Why Invest

madeira's golden opportunity

Madeira has been elected as “The World’s Leading Island Destination” by the World Travel Awards for the last 6 years in a row! So whether you’re a savvy investor looking to expand your property portfolio or a discerning homeowner ready for the next level of island living, let Madeira offer you an unparalleled coastal lifestyle. Whether you crave relaxation or adventure, small town friendliness or big city amenities, solitude or social activity, Madeira has it all

Temperate Climate

Known as the “Island of Eternal Spring”, Madeira boasts year-round balmy weather. That means more time to enjoy the incredible natural beauty of the island. For those who love to swim, the sparkling waters of the Atlantic remain a refreshing 20°C.

Scenic Outdoor Activities

With its incredible diversity of landscapes, Madeira is the perfect location for those who love the outdoors. Treat your feet to a stroll along the gorgeous pebble beaches or hike up to the viewpoint at Pico do Arieiro. Follow the banks of wildflowers along the intricate network of levadas (irrigation channels) to discover the soul of the island. For green tranquility, the Laurisilva, a UNESCO Heritage Site and the largest laurel forest in the world, is home to a variety of unique flora and fauna. Hop on a boat ride around the island where you’ll have the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, and turtles. Or slip under the surface for some scuba diving – you might even spot Madeira’s shyest resident, the monk seal.

Peace of Mind

Newcomers to Madeira are always welcomed by its friendly population. And, with almost no crime on the island, Madeira’s close-knit community is all the security you need.

Vibrant Nightlife

An easy walk from Ocean View Villas, is Zona Velha, Funchal’s Old Town. Along its narrow cobblestoned streets, you’ll find an array of boutique shops, trendy bars and excellent restaurants. Dance the night away at one of Funchal’s nightclubs or try your hand at a game of poker at the casino. For fine dining, Madeira boasts two Michelin starred restaurants, Il Galo D’Oro at The Cliff Bay Hotel and William at Reid’s Palace.

Lively Cultural Scene

Celebrate Madeiran culture at Funchal’s many festivals. Dust off your dancing shoes for the annual Madeira Carnival and look out for the colourful displays of Madeira’s Flower Festival. For a night to remember, Festival Aleste is considered one of the best beach parties on the island. If you prefer a more tranquil setting, visit Madeira’s various museums. Every Saturday night in June, residents are treated to dazzling firework displays with musical accompaniment as contestants from all over the world compete in the International Fireworks Competition.

How it Works

Investing in property in Madeira is one of the easiest and most affordable routes to a residence permit and, ultimately, an EU passport. Available to non-EU nationals, the Portuguese Golden Visa Program is a residence-by-investment scheme, under which you’ll receive a five-year residence permit in return for property investment in Portugal.

With its unparalleled lifestyle and growing popularity, Madeira is the ideal location from which to take advantage of this opportunity. Whether you’re ready to relocate or prefer to receive rental income from your Ocean View Villa, the steps to your Portuguese visa couldn’t be simpler.

1.

Invest Euro 500 000 in property in Madeira and retain the investment for at least five years. You can invest either as an individual or through a suitable legal entity.

2.

You and your immediate family, including dependent children, will be eligible for a five-year residence permit, allowing you to live, work and study in Portugal and travel, visa-free, throughout the entire Schengen region.

3.

Relocation is not a requirement; your investment can spend the time in Portugal for you. The physical presence threshold for renewal of your residence permit is easily met: spend at least seven days in Portugal in year one, and at least fourteen days every two years after that. Just the right amount of time for a seaside holiday.

4.

After five years, you can consider applying for permanent residence or citizenship in Portugal.
